Orders and Medals Research Society Wellington Branch Medals Conference

The Wellington branch of the UK headquartered Orders and Medals Research Society will host a conference in Wellington this year on 20 October with drinks on the evening of 19 October. The event is open to all who have an interest in orders, decorations and medals from around the world and associated research. Venue: The Wellington Club, 88 The Terrace, Wellington. Talks and Displays - 0930-1630, with breaks. Dinner - 1800 for 1830, guest speaker to be advised. Contact is tskilton@gmail.com
This conference has an excellent programme and is highly recommended for all who have an interest in orders and medals awarded for military, bravery or related services particularly. The outstanding line up of speakers includes Dr Steven Loveridge, an independent World War One historian as dinner speaker. International speakers include Christopher Mellor-Hill and David Erskine-Hill from London based auction houses DNW and Spink. An outstanding array of local speakers discussing a wide variety of topics rounds out what will be a great day, including covering Vatican awards, St John awards; the Edward Medal; The Auckland War Memorial Museum’s project to make it medals accessible; The Great War in Africa; and the Mawson Antarctic medal amongst others.
